Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French antéversion.
Etymology: < French antéversion (1783 or earlier) < post-classical Latin anteversion- , anteversio prevention (4th cent.) < classical Latin antevers- , past participial stem of antevertere antevert v. + -iō -ion suffix1. Compare antroversion n. and also retroversion n. (see retroversion n. 3). Compare also antevert v. 2, anteverted adj.
Medicine.
The condition of being turned or displaced forwards; spec. the condition of the uterus being anteverted; an instance of this.Contrasted with retroversion n. 3.
