Etymology: < classical Latin animābilis vivifying (former reading, following the manuscripts, in Cicero De Natura Deorum 2. 91, where modern editions read animālis animal adj.) < animāre animate v. + -bilis -ble suffix.
Obsolete.
That may possess life; capable of being animated, or converted to living material.
