Etymology: < ferri- comb. form + post-classical Latin calc-, calx lime (see calx n.) + -ite suffix1.
Geology. Now rare.
A form of limestone containing a high proportion of iron, formerly occasionally misidentified as cerite (cerite n.1 a).
