Compounds.Compare also later English regional (Cornwall) fever-lurk (late 19th cent.), and also English regional (Cornwall) fever of lurk (late 19th cent.), U.S. regional (southern) fever and lurk(s) (20th cent.), all in the same sense.

Laziness, indolence, esp. regarded as a medical condition. Cf. fever-lurden n.
