Etymology: < German fennoskandisch adjective (W. Ramsay 1904, in Fennia XXI. vii. 44), < Latin Fenni the Finns + -o suffix: see Scandian adj.
Geology.
An ancient land mass in north-western Europe comprising most of Scandinavia and Finland and the adjacent area of north-eastern Russia. Also in extended use, Scandinavia and Finland as a political unit.
