Etymology: Short for Fastern's Een n. and Fastern's Eve n.The form fasten either shows an inferred singular, or reflects the β. forms at Fastern's Een n.
English regional (northern) and Scottish. Obsolete.
The day or evening before the first day of Lent; Shrove Tuesday. Cf. Fastern's Een n., Fastens Tuesday n.
