A directory containing photographs and biographical details of students (esp. incoming freshman) at a university or college, published at the start of the academic year to facilitate contact between students. Also: a similar publication produced by another type of institution or organization.A publication of this type at Harvard University inspired the choice of name for the social networking service Facebook (see Facebook v.).
