Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin antefactum.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin antefactum past deed (12th cent. in a British source) < classical Latin ante- ante- prefix + factum deed (see factum n.).
Something done or occurring before; a previous act or event. Later also: a previously existing circumstance.
