Etymology: < classical Latin faciendum thing to be done (usually in plural, facienda ), use as noun of neuter gerundive of facere to make, do (see fact n.). Compare Middle French, French faciende occupation (1552 < Italian), Italian faccenda thing to be done or made, situation, affair (1303–6), in plural also ‘daily domestic labours’ (14th cent.).
