单词 analy
释义

analyv.

Forms: pre-1700 analey, pre-1700 analy, pre-1700 analzie, pre-1700 anelȝie, pre-1700 annailȝe, pre-1700 annailly, pre-1700 annale, pre-1700 annallȝe, pre-1700 annally, pre-1700 annaly, pre-1700 1700s analie, pre-1700 1700s annalyie.
Origin: Apparently either (i) a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Or probably (ii) a borrowing from French. Etymon: alien v.
Etymology: Apparently either a variant of alien v., or reflecting a parallel formation (probably in Anglo-Norman or Middle French) ultimately < classical Latin alius other (see alien adj.); compare Anglo-Norman enliener , variant of aliener alien v., which appears to show substitution of en in, for the first syllable; the English word may perhaps reflect a similar variant, but with prefixation rather than substitution, and with loss of the last syllable; perhaps compare also Anglo-Norman enaloigner to move away (13th cent. in an apparently isolated attestation, beside more common esloigner , aloigner , etc.: see eloin v.), with which some degree of form association may have occurred.
Scots Law. Obsolete.
transitive. To transfer ownership of (land, a possession, etc.); to alienate. Also intransitive: to transfer the ownership of something. In quot. 1533 figurative.
