Etymology: < eve n.2 + jar n.1 Compare eve-churr n. and earlier nightjar n.
English regional (chiefly Hampshire). Now rare (perhaps historical).
The European nightjar, Caprimulgus europaeus. Cf. eve-churr n. 2.
