1. Chiefly Theology. Of, relating to, or of the nature of anagoge (anagoge n. 1); employing anagoge; mystical, spiritual.In theological contexts the term is frequently used with reference to the highest of four levels of meaning in a Biblical passage, the other three levels being the literal, the allegorical (relating to the New Testament or Christian Church), and the moral or tropological (relating to an individual's soul).
