1875 A. W. Bennett & W. T. T. Dyer tr. J. von Sachs Text-bk. Bot. ii. v. 524 Braun calls those flowers eucyclic in which the members of all the whorls are equal in number and alternate. It also happens however that members of the same kind arise subsequently between those of a whorl already formed; as..in many eucyclic flowers with ten stamens.

1910 Encycl. Brit. X. 560/1 When a flower consists of parts arranged in whorls it is said to be cyclic, and if all the whorls have an equal number of parts and are alternate it is eucyclic.
