Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: ether n., -o- connective, -maniac comb. form.
Etymology: < ether n. + -o- connective + -maniac comb. form, after French éthéromane (1883 as noun in the passage translated in quot. 1883; 1860 or earlier as adjective). Compare etheromania n.
Now historical and rare.
A person affected with etheromania; an ether addict. Cf. etherist n. 2.
