Etymology: < post-classical Latin exemplificat-, past participial stem of exemplificare exemplify v. + -ive suffix. Compare post-classical Latin exemplificativus (13th cent.).
That acts or serves as an example; intended to illustrate or exemplify (cf. exemplative adj. 2). Also: that provides examples.
