释义 | Anadyomeneadj.n. A. adj. Usually used postpositively. As an epithet of the goddess Venus (Aphrodite), as originally depicted in a famous painting by the Greek artist Apelles: emerging from the sea. Hence later in allusive use. ΚΠ 1601 P. Holland tr. Pliny Hist. World II. xxxv. x. 539 Apelles made the picture of Venus Anadyomene. 1638 F.
