Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek ἐνθεαστικός.
Etymology: < ancient Greek ἐνθεαστικός inspired < ἐνθεάζειν to be the subject of ‘possession’ by a god ( < ἔνθεος : see entheos n.) + -τικός , extended form of -ικός -ic suffix. With use as adjective compare earlier enthean adj., entheate adj.Compare post-classical Latin entheasticus (a1540).
