释义

enthalpyn.

Brit. /ˈɛnθalpi/, /ˈɛnθəlpi/, /ɛnˈθalpi/, /ᵻnˈθalpi/, U.S. /ˈɛnˌθælpi/, /ᵻnˈθælpi/, /ɛnˈθælpi/
Origin: A borrowing from Dutch. Etymon: Dutch enthalpie.
Etymology: < Dutch enthalpie (1909 or earlier; attributed to H. Kamerlingh Onnes) < Hellenistic Greek ἐνθάλπειν to warm in ( < ancient Greek ἐν- en- prefix2 + θάλπειν to heat, of uncertain origin; perhaps < the same base as θαλυκρός warm, glowing) + Dutch -ie -y suffix3.Compare German Enthalpie (1910 or earlier).
Physics and Chemistry.
1. The quantity obtained by adding the internal energy of a thermodynamic system to the product of its volume and the pressure exerted on it.Enthalpy is frequently used to express changes in the energy of a system at constant pressure. In such a system, changes in enthalpy are equal to the amount of energy absorbed or given off by the system.
