Jrnl. 16 Mar. 520/2 In 1932 one of us (C.M.) drew the conclusion..that the characteristic and traditional effect of ergot was caused..by a substance still unidentified... We are now..reporting the isolation of the substance to which ergot rightly owes its long-established reputation as the ‘pulvis parturiens’. We propose to call it ‘ergometrine’.
