Etymology: < post-classical Latin erga omnes towards everyone (4th cent.; compare classical Latin ergā omnēs hominēs towards all people) < classical Latin ergā towards, for, with regard to, respecting ( < ergo ergo adv., after pairs such as ultrā ultra prep. and ultrō : see ulterior adj.) + omnēs , accusative plural of omnis all (see omni- comb. form).
