epidemic pleurodynia
Originally: pain in the side of the chest; pleuritic pain. In later use: spec. (more fully epidemic pleurodynia) an infectious disease characterized by fever and sharp, spasmodic pain in the chest (probably originating in the intercostal muscles), caused by enterovirus (esp. Coxsackie virus) infection; also called Bornholm disease.
