enderadj.

Forms: Middle English endir, endur, Middle English endyr, Middle English ender. Also Middle English endurs, endris, enderes, endyrs, Scottish andyrs.
Origin: Apparently a borrowing from early Scandinavian. Etymon: Norse endr.
Etymology: apparently < Old Norse endr adverb, ‘formerly, else, again’, corresponding to Gothic andiz-(uh) ‘either’ (conjunction), and perhaps to dialect German ender , ehnder ‘before, sooner’; the Old Germanic type *andiz is an adverb in the comparative degree related to and adv. It seems probable that ender-day, ender-night, were originally compounds of the adverb, though a trace of adjectival flexion occurs in the Old Norse compound endra-nær ‘at some other time’. The forms with final s are of obscure origin.
Obsolete.
Only in phrase, this ender day, night, year, indicating a day, etc. recently past.
