Etymology: < Eeyore, the name of the determinedly pessimistic donkey in A. A. Milne Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) and later books and films.The name alludes to the sound of a donkey's bray: compare hee-haw n.
A pessimistic, gloomy, or habitually disconsolate person, likened to the Winnie-the-Pooh character Eeyore.
