单词 amanse
释义

amansev.

Forms:

α. Old English amæmsumedon (plural past indicative, transmission error), Old English amænsumian, Old English amansamian (rare), Old English amansumian, Old English amansummian (rare), late Old English amansemian, late Old English amansomian, early Middle English amansomie, early Middle English amansumie, early Middle English amonsumie.

β. Old English amansian, early Middle English amansi, early Middle English amansie, early Middle English amonsi, Middle English amansy.

Origin: Apparently formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: a- prefix1, ymone n., -some suffix1.
Etymology: Apparently < a- prefix1 + -mān- (in gemāna ymone n.) + -some suffix1. Compare Old High German irmeinsamōn to excommunicate, to exclude, and also irmeinsamī excommunication, exclusion (both rare). Compare also Old English gemǣnsumian (also mǣnsumian ) to participate, to associate with, to communicate. Compare later manse v.Currency of Old English *gemǣnsum common (cognate with or formed similarly to Old High German gimeinsam < the Germanic base of i-mene adj. + the Germanic base of -some suffix1) is implied by its apparent derivatives, such as gemǣnsumian , but it is unlikely that Old English amānsumian implies currency of a comparable adjective with a- prefix1. Compare post-classical Latin excommunicare (see excommunicate v.), which the Old English word frequently translates. Form history. In Old English amānsumian is a weak verb of Class II (compare -y suffix2). With Old English forms showing i-mutation, such as amǣnsumian , which are significantly less common than amānsumian , compare i-mene adj. and Old English gemǣnsumian. The β. forms show contraction. They are first attested later (from the 11th cent.) and remain uncommon in Old English, but are also attested for derivatives (compare β. forms at amansing n.).
Obsolete.
1. transitive. To excommunicate (a person); also spec. to excommunicate from a monastic community. Cf. manse v.
