Etymology: < dudley- (in the name of Dudleyville, a town in Alabama, where there is a significant deposit of the mineral) + -ite suffix1.
Mineralogy. Now rare or disused.
A brownish-yellow mica-like mineral, later regarded as a form of margarite.
