Etymology: < post-classical Latin abannition-, abannitio (1582 in the passage translated in quot. 1583), perhaps an alteration of bannitio bannition n., after abannatio abannation n. Compare abannation n.
Obsolete. rare.
An act or the action of banishing someone, usually for a year as a punishment for manslaughter.Chiefly recorded in dictionaries.
