单词 | ecotype |
释义 | ecotypen. Ecology. A phenotype of a species which is the result of genetic or developmental adaptation to life in a specific environment; esp. a subdivision of an ecospecies with a distinctive genotype. Cf. ecophene n., ecophenotype n. ΚΠ 1916 Proc. National Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 2 714 The question, however, has not been answered, whether these types are really genetic types, or whether they are what you might call ‘ecotypes’, in so far as their appearance is determined by environmental or ecological conditions. 1922 G. Turesson in Hereditas 3 112 The term ecotype is proposed here as ecological unit to cover the product arising as a result of the genotypical response of an ecospecies to a particular habitat. The ecotypes are then the ecological sub-units of the ecospecies. 1949 W. C. Allee et al. Princ. Animal Ecol. v. xxxiv. 674/2 The interbreeding population would indicate either a hybridization between the river and cave forms, or that the cave form is an ecotype (ecological sub-species) of the river form. 1959 E. P. Odum & H. T. Odum Fund. Ecol. (ed. 2) i. iv. 144 If marked ecotypes exist, the occurrence of the same series of taxa in different localities does not necessarily mean that the same conditions exist. 2006 Science 24 Mar. 1737/3 The depth distributions of Prochlorococcus ecotypes at three stations representing different biogeochemical provinces revealed distinctly different patterns. Derivatives ecoˈtypic adj. ΚΠ 1927 New Phytologist 26 289 The following ecotypic names are proposed: ectotypus campestris, oect. arenarius, [etc.]. 2000 D. A. Lewin Origin, Expansion & Demise of Plant Species iv. 86 [We do not] wish to give the impression that ecotypic differentiation is rare in an absolute sense.
