Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French dufrénite.
Etymology: < French dufrénite ( A. Brongniart Tableau de la Distribution méthodique des espèces minérales (1833) 20) < dufren- (in the name of Pierre-Armand Dufrénoy : see dufrenoysite n.) + -ite -ite suffix1.
Mineralogy.
A mineral consisting of a hydrated basic phosphate of iron, typically occurring in dark greenish-brown nodules and fibrous masses.Chemical formula: Fe5(PO4)3(OH)5·2H2O. Crystal system: monoclinic.
