Etymology: < draw- comb. form + latch n.1In sense 2 with the second element apparently reanalysed as showing latch v.2 (compare sense 2b at that entry), and perhaps with concomitant reinterpretation of the first element as reflecting draw v. 48a.
I. In senses corresponding to draw- comb. form 2.
1. A thief who breaks into a property by managing to lift up the latch of a door or window from the outside; a person who robs or steals in a sneaking manner. Cf. latch-drawer n., sneck-drawer n. Obsolete (historical in later use).
