释义 | Aaron's beardn. Any of several plants which are thought to resemble a beard in growth, habit, or appearance; esp. (a) the rose of Sharon, Hypericum calcinum, which has prominent tufts of hair-like stamens; (b) either of two ornamental plants which produce long runners, the saxifrage Saxifraga stolonifera (cf. old man's beard n. 5), and the ivy-leaved toadflax, Cymbalaria muralis; (c) a spiraea, Spiraea latifolia, with dense racemes of hairy-looking flowers (now rare).
