Etymology: In sense 1, < dis- prefix 2e + sociable adj. and n., apparently after French dissociable (Montaigne, 16th cent.) in same sense; in senses 2, 3, < Latin dissociāre to dissociate: compare Latin dissociābilis that cannot be united.
