Etymology: < Old French dissimule-r (14th cent. in Littré), < Latin dissimulāre to disguise, conceal, dissemble, < dis- , dis- prefix 1d + simulāre to feign, after dissimilis unlike, different. By development of b after m , and vowel modification, this word was gradually changed into dissemble n.
Obsolete.
