Origin: Either (i) a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Or (ii) formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: discolour v.; dis- prefix, colourize v.
Etymology: Either (i) an alteration (after colourize v.) of discolour v., or (ii) < dis- prefix + colourize v.
transitive. To remove the colour from; to make colourless or pale. Also: to spoil the colour of, to discolour.
