Etymology: < Hellenistic Greek διαβρωτικός able to eat through, corrosive < διάβρωσις diabrosis n. + -τικός , suffix forming adjectives from nouns (see -ic suffix). With use as noun compare post-classical Latin diabrotica (plural) corrosive agents (1559 or earlier).

Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
