Etymology: < post-classical Latin diabolista (1591 or earlier) < Hellenistic Greek διάβολος devil (see devil n.) + post-classical Latin -ista -ist suffix. Compare German Diabolist (first half of the 16th cent.; rare). Compare diabolism n.
A person who (knowingly or unknowingly) follows the Devil or serves his interests. Also: a practitioner or scholar of, or enthusiast for, rituals involving devils or the Devil.
