Etymology: < classical Latin dictitāt-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of dictitāre to persist in saying, repeat, to keep speaking of, to make a practice of pleading (causes) < dictāre dictate v. + -itāre -itate suffix.
Obsolete. rare.
transitive and intransitive. To speak or say repeatedly.
