Devonshire pottery
Used attributively to designate various articles produced or animals reared in Devonshire, or characteristic of Devonshire, as Devonshire cake, Devonshire cider, Devonshire pie, Devonshire pottery, Devonshire sheep, Devonshire tea; Devonshire cream n. a thick clotted cream. Devonshire slipper n. (see quot. 1921). Devonshire wainscot n. a species of moth, Leucania putrescens (see wainscot n. 4).
