The character or quality of being the Devil or a devil; diabolical nature or essence; = devilhood n. Also with the: the supreme spirit of evil, Satan; contrasted with godhead n. 2a.In the latter sense sometimes conceived of as a threefold unity analogous to the Holy Trinity; cf. quots. a1665, 1831.
