Etymology: < de- prefix 2a + tune v.Previous versions of the OED give the stress as: deˈtune.
1. transitive. To alter or adjust (an oscillatory system, as a resonant circuit or a microwave cavity) so that its resonant frequency no longer coincides with the frequency of some other oscillation with which it interacts.
