Origin: Probably formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: descend v., -ible suffix.
Etymology: Probably < descend v. + -ible suffix. In sense 2 after Anglo-Norman and Law French descendible capable of being handed down (15th cent. or earlier) or post-classical Latin descendibilis transmissible by inheritance (a1476 in a British source). Compare earlier descendable adj.
