Etymology: < Anglo-Norman and Middle French delié (French (now literary) délié ) delicate in structure, fine, thin (early 12th cent. in Old French), in Anglo-Norman also small (13th cent.) < classical Latin dēlicātus delicate adj.; with the formal development in French, compare e.g. French plié beside classical Latin plicātus . Compare delicate adj. and see discussion of parallels in the Romance languages at that entry.
Obsolete.
Delicate in structure or texture; fine, thin. Also: little, small.Apparently only recorded in dictionaries after Middle English.
