Etymology: < post-classical Latin deliciat-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of deliciari to feast (Vetus Latina), to luxuriate, delight (4th or 5th cent in Augustine) < classical Latin dēlicia , dēliciae (see delice n.), after Middle French delicier (transitive) to rejoice, (used reflexively) to enjoy oneself, to feast (12th cent. in Old French).Compare classical Latin dēliciāre to lure, entice.
Obsolete. rare.
