Etymology: < classical Latin ambō both (see ambi- prefix) + sexual adj. In sense 2 after French ambosexuel (C. Champy 1931, in Proc. 2nd Internat. Congr. Sex Res. 1930 43, the paper referred to in quot. 1931); compare earlier ambosexous adj. and ambisexual adj. 2.
