单词 amblere
释义

ambleren.

Origin: Probably a borrowing from French. Etymon: French amblure.
Etymology: Probably < Anglo-Norman amblure, Anglo-Norman and Middle French ambleüre (early 13th cent. in Old French in this sense; already in second half of the 12th cent. in sense ‘gait, deportment’; < post-classical Latin ambulatura act of pacing (4th cent.) < classical Latin ambulāt- , past participial stem of ambulāre ambulate v. + -ūra -ure suffix1), perhaps with alteration of the ending for the purposes of rhyme (the word rhymes with yfere adv.).Compare Old Occitan ambladura (12th cent.). The following example may perhaps show a later instance of the present word, although it could alternatively be interpreted as showing ambler n. 1:c1450 (?a1400) T. Chestre Sir Launfal (1930) l. 92 The Meyr stod, as ye may here, And sawe hym come ryde vp anblere With two knyȝtes.
Obsolete. rare.
