Etymology: < post-classical Latin delectus personae, literally ‘choice of a person’ (1673 or earlier in theological context) < classical Latin delectus delectus n. + persōnae , genitive of persōna person n.
Law (chiefly Scots Law).
The right of each partner in a firm, party to a contract, etc., to choose or approve any person subsequently admitted to partnership, etc.Used either as a count noun (as in to imply a delectus personae), or as a mass noun (as in the right of delectus personae).
