Etymology: Initialism < the initial letters of the elements of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane.
Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, a white, crystalline, chlorinated hydrocarbon used as an insecticide in the form of a powder, an aqueous emulsion, or a non-aqueous solution. Also attributive and in other combinations.
