Etymology: < dark adj. + meat n.
1. Darker-coloured cuts of meat, esp. the thigh or leg meat of chicken or turkey. Also (more rarely): meat which is red when raw such as beef or lamb (as opposed to chicken, veal, etc.). Cf. red meat n. 1, white meat n. 2.
