(also with capital initials) (originally) (the name of) a set of physical exercises designed to be performed each day on rising; (later more generally) any exercise or group of exercises performed on a daily basis.The name ‘Daily Dozen’ was originally given to a set of twelve exercises devised by American sportsman Walter Camp (1859–1925) for naval recruits during the First World War (1914–18). At the end of the war Camp published his system in several periodicals, on gramophone record, and in a book (see W. Camp Daily Dozen (1921)), and it became widely popular.
