Etymology: < post-classical Latin alectryomachia (1639 in a British source, or earlier) < ancient Greek ἀλεκτρυών cock (see alectryon n.) + post-classical Latin -machia -machy comb. form. Compare Middle French alectriomachie (1586). Compare later alectoromachy n. N.E.D. (1884) gives the pronunciation as (ăle:ktriˌǫ·măki) /əˌlɛktrɪˈɒməkɪ/.
Obsolete. rare.
