Etymology: < Italian crostini, plural of crostino (a1758) < crosta crust (see crust n.) + -ino -ine suffix4. Compare croûton n.
With plural agreement. Small pieces of toasted or fried bread, usually accompanying soup or, with savoury toppings, served as a starter.
